Senator Fain was named "Best Public Official" in the 2014 Covington / Maple Valley Reporter reader's poll. Finalists included Black Diamond City Councilmember Andy Williamson, Covington Mayor Margaret Harto, and Maple Valley City Councilmember Victoria Jonas.

Senator Fain was recognized at the Kent Area PTA Awards Ceremony with the Spirit of Community Award for his dedicated service to the students and families within the Kent School District.
Fain has been a strong advocate for education funding and reform in the state legislature, as well as volunteering and supporting local levy elections for Kent Schools.
Senator Joe Fain and State Representative Dave Upthegrove both received recognition as Government Employees of the Year by the Kent Chamber of Commerce. Each legislator has gone above and beyond in working to help small businesses in Kent grow and thrive during their term in office. The two were presented their award at the annual Kent Chamber Gala at the Showare Center.
Senator Fain was selected by Covington-Maple Valley Reporter readers as the 2011 Public Official of the Year.
Mt. Rainier High School girls head coach, Joe Fain, was awarded the WISCA state Coach of the Year award during the 2002 State 3A championships at the King County Aquatic Center.
The Coach of the Year Award is voted on by fellow Washington State swim coaches. Fain is the second year coach of the Mt. Rainier program, as well as the coach of the Hazen High School boys program.
A centrist who moves people of both parties toward policies that make sense for their community and the whole state is a lawmaker voters should treasure. The people of the 47th Legislative District have such a leader in Joe Fain, who should be reelected to the state Senate in November for a third four-year term.

City leaders and community members all agree that the city of Kent would be well served by a new YMCA in the fast growing and diverse community of 124,000 people.
“Breaking ground on this park is the result of a great deal of work by community members who had a vision to improve our region and are making it happen,” said Sen. Fain (R-Auburn), who secured a $650,000 grant for the park in the state’s 2013 capital budget. “Providing opportunities for families to recreate is vitally important to this growing area. I cannot wait to see the incredible community asset this park will be for many years."

The monthly "Good Eggs" breakfast, hosted by King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, featured state Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn, 47th Legislative District). Fain spoke specifically about the historic, bipartisan budget recently passed, as well as plans to address our state's transportation needs.
On that Saturday evening the Washington State Legislature passed its 2013-15 capital construction budget, which included $2.1 million for the Covington Community Park’s second phase. Sen. Joe Fain, Rep. Pat Sullivan and officials from the City of Covington secured the additional funding after helping finance the initial phase in last year’s construction package.
Families in Covington and Maple Valley can celebrate this week as the ink dries on the state budget thanks to several million dollars set aside for the Tahoma School District and parks projects.

Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn) hosted the Leadership Institute of South Puget Sound for a behind-the-scenes tour at the state Capitol on Wednesday.
Fain organized information sessions, a speaking panel and tour for 23 current and future business and government leaders from South King County. This is the second year Fain has hosted and organized a day at the Capitol for the Leadership Institute.
