This year Sen. Joe Fain was the biggest champion on Paid Family and Medical Leave. Fain is the prime sponsor of legislation that passed, which was a compromise between two bills addressing the issue. With his keen insight during the negotiation process Washington now has the best law in the nation for both businesses and employees. 

Digital Public Schools Alliance

While much of the focus remains on public school students in traditional classroom settings, thousands also embrace alternative options including online learning, for which Sen. Joe Fain was recognized as a “Champion for Kids” by the Digital Public Schools Alliance.

Auburn Valley Humane Society

Senator Fain was recognized for his many years of work in the legislature to prevent animal cruelty, protect animals in hot cars, crack down on animal abusers, and prevent mistreatment to dogs by their being tethered in inhumane condition.

Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce

The Seattle Chamber's top recognition for elected officials is named after former a Senator and a friend and colleague of Fain's. Fain’s recognition stemmed from his work to pass the state’s 2015 transportation infrastructure investments and efforts to close the educational opportunity gap by creating a more equitable public school system.

Aspen Institute

Senator Fain will join a nationally-selected group of 24 elected officials to participate in a two-year fellowship designed to bring together lawmakers who have demonstrated an outstanding ability to work responsibly across partisan divisions and bring greater civility to public discourse.

Early Learning Action Alliance

Sen. Joe Fain received the “Crayon Award” from the Early Learning Action Alliance during the Fall Family Child Care Conference held Saturday at Auburn’s Green River College. Fain was recognized for his work to expand access to and improve the quality of early learning in Washington state after co-sponsoring the Early Start Act in 2015 and championing opportunities for the state’s youngest learners.

Arc of King County’s Parent and Family Coalition

Humane Society of Washington

Senator Fain was recognized for sponsoring and securing passage of SB 5501, which will better protect animals who left in hot cars without access to water by giving first responders greater tools to act in those situations. 

Association of Washington Cities

The Association of Washington Cities (AWC), an Olympia-based organization advocating on behalf of Washington's 281 cities and towns, presented Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn) with a City Transportation award for his efforts to enact a transportation package during the 2015 legislative session.

Community Employment Alliance

Senator Fain was recognized as one of this year's Outstanding Legislators, his second year in a row. The award goes to legislators who have made exceptional efforts to support employment for people with disabilities. During the 2015 session, Fain protected funding for the VIP Act, which funds employment services for 1,000 people with developmental disabilities.

Senator Fain was recognized by a leader in the shared economy industry for his work to create a stable regulatory framework for ride-share companies in Washington state.

Sen. Joe Fain received the Arc of King County Family Coalition Budget Champion Award for his efforts to protect historic investments in services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Washington Coalition for Open Government

The Washington Coalition for Open Government presented its 2014 Ballard/Thompson Award to Senate Majority Floor Leader Joe Fain. The award honors a member of the state legislature who demonstrated outstanding dedication to the cause of open government during the previous legislative session.

Community Employment Alliance

Senator Joe Fain (Auburn) was recently honored as an ‘Outstanding Legislator’ by the Community Employment Alliance (CEA) for 2014.

The League of Women Voter

The League of Women Voters recently honored Senator Joe Fain with the "Sunshine Award" for his work to improve access to public records during the 2014 legislative session.  

The award was presented at the annual League of Women Voters TOAST! To the Candidates breakfast at the Westin in Seattle.

Sen. Joe Fain was recognized by the University of Washington as a “Dedicated Dawg” for his work on the 2013 budget to keep tuition rates from rising at state colleges and universities.

Aerospace Futures Alliance

Citing his work on a number of key issues, the Aerospace Futures Alliance has named Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn) its Legislator of the Year for 2013. The award was presented during the eighth annual Governor's Aerospace Summit in Everett on Wednesday.

Congressman Dave Reichert visited Snoqualmie Point Park on Tuesday to present Sate Sens. Joe Fain (R-Auburn), Steve Litzow (R-Mercer Island) and Andy Hill (R-Redmond) with an award from the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust honoring their conservation leadership.

Fain (pictured), Litzow and Hill were recognized for reaching across the aisle during the 2011 session to continue funding for a critical wildlife conservation program - the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP).
